Abstract

In his comprehensive and important work Danske sø- og ånavne 1–8, John Kousgård Sørensen presents and interprets an immense number of lake names and river names. In DSÅ 8 he summarises and comments on his results. The present author describes the structure and contents of DSÅ 8, dealing with and commenting on, i.a., analogy, chronology, the distinction between primary and secondary name formation, reconstruction, suffixes, terminology, and Hans Krahe’s well-known alteuropäische Hydronymie.
